Entertain And Evaluate (lifeline) Evaluation

Evaluation: Entertain And Evaluate.

For this brief, I chose to do the “Lifeline” option as i thought it would be most beneficial to the skills i possess. At this moment in time I have a real love for film noir style film and photography. This is the reason I chose to do this brief as I saw potential for this style to be implemented into it. I perhaps went a little off the brief with the medium i chose to do this module as I chose to do a series of photographs to illustrate a youth attempting to commit suicide through overdose because of depression. I tried to use a number of different techniques including different lighting from spot lights, household lights and some neon lights I have. I used different camera techniques using predominantly the aperture priority setting and the Nikon 50mm lens f1.4. This allowed me to use a very shallow depth of field allowing me to capture really atmospheric and moody shots with the backgrounds really blurred and a small area of focus.
The shots I took included close ups, full length shots and quite wide shots especially considering my lens of choice. With doing this method of capturing the theme I was able to create a scene which wasn’t too dark and adult but showed a real sense of purpose and fulfilling the task. I however think that the intended audience of the piece is that of a more adult age who are understanding and maybe going though similar thoughts. I think the way I portrayed the lifeline issue was direct enough to get the motive across.
I did find a location, which was in an abandoned mill in Blackley. I thought this would be idea for a shoot but on second sighting I released it was far too derelict to be even plausible for a shoot there. To provide realism I then decided to shoot in an actual household rather than somewhere dark and abandoned.
I did have some technical difficulties though, especially with the lighting. Trying to capture a moody sense of lighting similar to the film noir style was really difficult. I had difficulty maintaining image quality as the ISO was often hitting over 1000 making the images really noisy. I’m picky when it comes to photography and I love really high image quality so this made selection really difficult. Eventually I managed to take each shot with a good enough ISO reading below 500. This meant I retained as much quality despite lighting conditions being dark for atmosphere. I didn’t want to use my flashgun (Nikon sb-600) as I thought this would create a really fake and bright image when I’m was going for a moody atmospheric look. Sometimes the noise gained in some of these images benefitted the photo despite my disliking to it usually, but the noise sometimes added that bit more drama to the image sequence. After the crit I have decided to try use so different shots which complimented the idea more and seemed more analytical to the type of medicine people would try commit suicide on rather than lemsip sachets and strepsils. I also thought some of the other pill shots I took were a bit too obvious that they were cold and flu tablets or vitamins. One positive aspect which I think really aided the task was my brothers acting. He kindly volunteered to be the suicide victim whilst being ill himself. I think in some of the photos you can really see that he is unwell and I think this aided some of the photographs. He also helped review the photos with me, picking out which he thought were the better ones and commenting on post work I did on the photos themselves. This was really useful to get another person’s view of the images. After the final crit, he went to work in Scotland for the week. This made things so much more difficult to try and get replacement shots for some which were lacking impact or correct compositional value. This being said I had to reassess any option of having another shoot with him. I then checked back though all my files I took from the original shoot to see if there were any other photos which could replace some of the ones initially used. Luckily I had some which could be used and to be honest I think that they definatly looks better than some of the originals I used. I then took everyone’s advice and cropped a lot of the photos so that they are all of the same height and they look a lot more professional now.
I then took my photos into after effects after I had made my triptych image and animated the photos to almost create a slideshow with an atmospheric soundtrack over the top. This could be used on a website, perhaps a TV commercial but using still images to show to devastation that suicidal thoughts can have on people. Along with the dark, slow music it really hits the spot. Almost feels like a NSPCC advert, using the black and white imagery and moody music.
I could have been better with my time management a little bit more. I planned and photographed the shoot in plenty of time and managed to get them all edited and organised all in good time. However in the final week where we were allowed to edit and modify our work I wasn’t able to reshoot certain photographs and edit content to the content I would have liked to as I was stranded in Wales for 4 days. I still managed to re-do some of the work and edit new photos etc but I would have liked a little more time.

Overall despite me wondering off the brief a little bit I would the module enjoyable and found that my photos really worked well with the style of the brief. I struggled a little with the time towards the end but I found that shooting and editing was really enjoyable. I think post production is my strong point when it comes to my photography. I think I captured the essence of the film noir style photography with strong lighting and monotone images. The soundtrack on the final animation made the piece sound like a charity and helpline advert, which is what was intended, so that worked well. My triptych image, I’m proud of.

task 2,3,4

Task two:

To promote myself properly, i must ensure i am well advertised with my skills as a designer. I should promote myself in various places and use different mediums to try and sell myself. The bare minimum now i think is to at least have a published website featuring galleries, contact information and showreels etc. Many people now though think that is the only thing they can do to promote and sell themselves however other mediums can definatly benefit us as designers. Ensure oyu have a professional business card can definatly help to ensure you sell yourself and also meeting people/networking at different events and festivals allows you to be able to offer you services via networking at these events. I think these methods are much more effective than for example flyers which people tend to just throw away. However you could advertise in specialist magazines such as computer arts and Digit. Doing this would allow other professionals to see your advertisement and allow you to gain business perhaps by that method. This also means that the advert is seen on a national and sometimes international scale and therefore promoting your skills outside of your local area. This will be very usefull to have effectively communicated ntionally as many of the top design agencies do reside in London for example Psy-Ops, a visual effects company. I think this way of communication via these different mediums will really help promote myself to the most cost effective and beneficial way.
Task3:

I briefly spoke about the ways i would promote myseld in the previous task but i can now exapand on my ideas as to how i would do so cost effectively and which would be the most beneficial for my area of business. Definatly having a professional looking website which is clear, readable and you can view my work on is essential for any company trying to look into me for a job. Ive been looking up hosting and domain names for my company as a freelance artist and photograpgher and have found a really cheap hosting site based in Norway which i think only cost $24 for a year which would be very very cost effective . Business cards are a must, it gives probably the most professional look to the client if you have a well designed, clear business card which states what you do and how to contact you. The only problem is that these cost money to produce and cannot always be of the highest standard. I think Moo-cards.com offers relatively cheap and high quality for business cards. The cards themselves need to be sharp and to the point with contact information and names and what you do. Nothing more is needed as the clients will not want to take the time to read all different techno-babble about what you do and what software you can use. My unique selling point however will be that i can offer a range of services from visual effects to photography. Making me more unique than the people who can only do 1 thing, and that 1 thing only.
Luckily for me i have experience already in the design world as i have published a book titled SlashTHREE: Expressions (The Art of SlashTHREE) which is a design book for the collective i work for. slashTHREE is one of the world’s biggest online digital art collectives and so i have met various people, learnt new things and been given opportunities such as the book to be able to understand the design world more. Since i was young i have used various art related web galleries which are a great way for people to see your work and to network with other people and businesses via collaborations or just talking to fellow artists. Examples are DeviantART, the ever growing Behance Network which I was a member of during the BETA stage and which is now one of the biggest galleries out there, and also the new Artician website which again is a great way to put yourself out there. I think its definatly the best idea to already have an idea of how the business works and so you don’t get lost along the way. These places can help get a foothold into the business but also helps build up a reputation amongst fellow artists.

Task 4:
There are always threats and opposition to your freelance business as it is a dog-eat-dog world when it comes to design. The clients want a quality product for a relatively low price. This being said i think a weakness to having a website is that so many other designers have them. It’s almost mandatory now with the ease of quick cheap internet access and hosting. It’s how you manage your site that will directly help you reel in the clients as opposed to your opposition. Using appropriate feature to make your search engine results the most positive is a big thing when clients are looking to find a designer. They want to see what they are looking for straight away and so with this feature (keywords etc) you can make your result be the top of the list. Thousands of students graduate from design related courses per year and like everyone else are looking to go straight into the design world. So you really have to make yourself unique and standout from the rest of the crowd.
To evaluate, you must understand the business and how it works in order to have a strong foothold into the design world. Having methods of promotion such as business cards, flyers, ads etc are needed to ensure people see your work and know what you are interested in working for them. You must have an appropriate USP to make you different from the norm. You must construct your pitch with consideration of your strengths, weaknesses and the opportunities which may arise.

Creative Commons Licence.

Overview

Creative Commons licenses are several copyright licenses released on December 16, 2002 by Creative Commons, a U.S. non-profit corporation founded in 2001.
Many of the licenses, notably all the original licenses, grant certain "baseline rights", such as the right to distribute the copyrighted work without changes, at no charge. Some of the newer licenses do not grant these rights.
Creative Commons licenses are currently available in 43 different jurisdictions worldwide, with more than nineteen others under development.Licenses for jurisdictions outside of the United States are under the purview of Creative Commons International.

International Creative Commons.

Creative Commons International, or CCi, is a "port" for Creative Commons Licenses to different copyright legislations around the world. Creative Commons (CC) is a non-profit organization devoted to expanding the range of creative works available for others to build upon legally and to share. The CCi is led by director Catharina Maracke and volunteer teams work in each CCi jurisdictions (in most cases countries or nation states).

really great sumariseations from the Creative Commons UK website!

UK photographer NEW creative rights laws.

First off and foremost, if you currently reside within the UK, there is change coming to © that could severely have a big impact on you and your photography.

the proposed changes to copyright law means that any non commercial entity could use your work on their website without charge or credit!

the government announced on 29 October 2009, to allow free and unhindered reproduction of photographs without payment or credit on non-commercial websites.

This is completely at odds with the Government's stance on file sharing of other forms of intellectual property (films and music) and raises the prospect of crippling thousands of small businesses while protecting large corporate interests.

The proposal uses phrases like "It must be seen to benefit all parties, not some at the expense of others" and yet the Government's proposal does exactly that. It takes the work of photographers who have invested time and money in creating work, and gives it to people who have no relationship with that work, for free.

Photographic businesses are already under severe strain and the proliferation of digital cameras gives the impression that creating professional quality imagery is easy. This will further devalue the work of professional photographers and destroy the photographic industry.

Rationale: Optional Pathway

For this module i have chosen to follow the "lifeline" brief. i believe this is the right option for me and i like to use a dramatic sence of atmosphere in my work, be it photography or motion graphics. i think i would again like to have a really dark feel with this module, powerful and dramatic in the sence that the message will be relayed via strong actions and careful composition.

i think i would like to utilise my photographic skills in this module by using my own photography to create a storyboard or maybe even to animate my own photos to create the motion in my peice. this is the reason why i wanted to pick this module. i think if i can use this breif properly i will be fulfilling both my ambitions as a photographer and a visual effects designer.

With "lifeline" i think i can use my strengths much more than any of the other breifs as they seem more surreal in the most case and with the correct delivery could be a really emotional yet effective breif.this title was also the most inspiring for me really. i found myself finding much more ideas for this breif than any others, which all seemed to be less "serious". i like to have a plan and idea of what i am doing conceptually and technically and not just random cannibal fun etc.

this is also a chance for me to broaden my portfolio of work considering it involes careful art direction in coherance with my photography and visual work and so i think this is probably the best choice for what i want to acheive

Tool - Visuals (live)

ive been trying to research the band Tool's visuals and who produces them live.

then i realised, the band use video/visual work from their own guitarist Adam Jones along with certain work from traditional psychadelic artist Alex Grey http://www.alexgrey.com

but its not just the concert visuals that are amazing, they literally have the best music videos out there directed by Adam Jones himself. i think they are actually better than chris cunnighams videos despite how good he is.

i think they are banned from MTV too ha.

wow

Dvein

wow, thats all i can say, heavy post production and a range of mad abstract imagery merged with 3d and numoerous other mediums makes the dvein studio simple incredible.

and of course the music makes it so surreal and well "magic"

amazing

SlashTHREE Book - Expressions

well finally the slashTHREE project - Expressions is released and i now have my copy hand, its a really great book which has sold loads of copies helping the collective raise over 1000 USD to help the expansion of the collective.

as a member of the staff team and the project team who put this together i was really happy with the outcome and felt a great sence of pride.

small slideshow preview of the book.

the book also got a full page feature in Computer Arts Magazine.

aww yeaaa

Artician.

Artician is a new site which is still in its beta form, it is a site where you can build up your personal portolio, expand your creative networkand promote and gain exposure for your own work. Unlike many other portfolio sites artician is fully customisable and is fully capable of producing a professional portfolio.

http://www.artician.com

it also has a function where you can import and allready storedportfolio from DeviantART. massive thumbs up for that, saves so much time reimporting and uploading work.

it also has a community which you can share ideas and dicuss artistic developments

great site, ill have to sign up.

Visual Jockey (VJ)

i think later on id like to do some VJing, maybe for my final project.

as i have a strong interest in music production and have formed a minimal dj/producer duo, i think i could harness both skills to produce a VJ set using my own music.

ive been researching a few VJ's ever since i saw the amazing visuals they produced at the Deadmau5 Live gig i went to in october.

they were done by the pixel addicts aka Inside-us-all Vj's (voted world *1 vjs)

My title/task 1

i think my title as a designer would be.

Visual Effects Designer, Photographer and maybe art direction.

i think i have enough ideas and vision to call myself an art director i think and visual effects and photography is definitely the line of work id like to follow.

the skills i possess include a strong photographical ability and id like to think i am fully capable of visual effects especially abstract effects.

here are what i believe to be my pros and cons

Pros:
Photography
Vision
Visual abstract effects}
Sound development.}
experiance in software/technology

Cons:
Drawing
traditional animation
attention span.

this being said i think i can be capable of driving ideas and technically executing them either visually or conceptually.

Evaluation VFX

The brief for this module was to create an ident or opening sequence for various television channels/programs. I chose to do the ident for Alibi channel, which consists of murder mystery programmes predominantly. I chose to do this one due to my influence from frank millers graphic novels, which are set in a film noir style. This being said I thought I could utilise the influences I had from his films and novels to create a film noir based, graphical ident.

I wanted to create a really heavy after effects piece and so want really interested about getting some footage for the brief but rather making everything from scratch. With my previous experience in Photoshop and illustrator I found I was easily able to work with all 3 programs to create the ident. The graphic novel/film noir style I was looking for was really easy to reproduce in Illustrator. There were no real issues with the whole scene design process as I had already planned out a storyboard and was fully capable of using illustrator for this purpose. Only one thing was testing and that was the fact that I produced the first scene as an a4 poster and not the HD widescreen size.

During the process of the brief and working heavily in after effects I have found myself to be quite accustom to the software, much more so than flash. Maybe it is because of the user interface is a lot easier and understandable. From here on I had no real issues with making the actual scenes. However when it came to rendering I faced countless issues including freezing of video, scenes skipping and audio not working. It was disappointing to see that my hard work had messed up right at the end especially for the final crit. These were all solved inevitably but I did have to remake some sound layers using final cut pro as on after effects they were out of sync. I can’t understand as I had them perfectly aligned on my composition and until it rendered worked perfectly.

Given the chance I would have liked to have some animated text but with my problems towards the last week or so had to pass on this as there just wasn’t enough time to get everything done considering the amount of effect I wanted in the piece. Perhaps I was slightly over ambitions with the effects I wanted to achieve. However I really want to continue using after effects and hopefully produce some abstract work to match some of my produced music. This is defiantly what I want to continue to progress with this year.

Overall, I really enjoyed this module and am looking forward to future projects.

Current Alibi Idents

i was actually really impressed with the current alibi tv idents, i think they are really modern, up to date and fitting of the genre.

they are really heavy on text and effects, which i like ;)

these are the current ones that reminded me to keep with the modern look of these idents.

EJSmith

http://www.ejsmithdesign.com

this is the portfolio of Eric smith a directed and graphic designer. he has done the opening sequences for films such as texas chainsaw massacre: the beginning, lucky number slevin and dumber and dumberer.

reall creative uses of typography and effects, well worth a shout.

catch me if you can!

i really like the vector/illustration based opening sequences like the virus video i posted and the catch me if you can opening credits.

check it out.

im quite handy in illustrator so this style is quite manageable for me.

watched the film "Lucky Number Slevin" last night and noticed the title sequences for that film and despite being really quite simplistic, the typography and the animated lines work really well together and draw you into the atmosphere of the film.

new video, after effects...heavyy

http://media2.mk12.com/v5_qt_html/2002/embryo.html

simply outstanding, love the dusty effects, going to try implement this into my production.

Storyboard idea..

my idea revolves around a very illustrated style using illustrator and after effects to produce difference effects and a certain film noir/ graphic novel style piece.

here is the idea which i plan to produce.

and here are some early concept drawings.

thats generally the style i want to follow. i want to include particle effects using trapcode plug ins to create certain atmospheric effects such as foggy breath and atmospheric dust effects which i would like to add.

sin city style!!!

continuing on from the other post about the noir idea id just like to show some examples of the kind of feel im going for in my piece.

see the shadows and style of this shot with the hard lighting and the high contrast shadows. this is the desired effect im looking for. im heavily influenced by frank millers work as his sin city movies is probably my favorite movie of all time.

VisualFX and Motion Graphics.

really looking forward to this module, i have always been a fan of great title sequences and visual effects. i also have a rather large love for typography. this module means i can experiment in each part :)

im hoping to create a almost film noir style piece inspired by the work of frank miller and other crime related visuals.

ive chosen to make an ident for alibi channel.

using a mix of typography and illustrations i plan to make a classy new film noir style ident for the channel.

here some inspirational video i found using the technique i want to use.

i especially love the graphic style of this kiss kiss bang bang title sequence, the illustrations which are generally quite dark involving lots of shadowing is really visually impressive. reminds me of another video which i was shown using the same technique but slightly more advanced.

VIRUS

all i can say is wow, i envy this guys ability. a mix of graphic illustrations, 3d and amazing after effects post work.

i especially love the part at about 43 second with the shadow guy jumping the fences and later the dog chasing him, icredible stuff.

Maya Stetches

My initial ideas for the maya animation

Slow In - Out

This refers to the spacing of the inbetween frames at maximum positions. It is the second and third order continuity of motion of the object. Rather than having a uniform velocity for an object, it is more appealing, and sometimes more realistic, to have the velocity vary at the extremes. For example, a bouncing ball moves faster as it approaches or leaves the ground and slower as it approaches leaves its maximum position. The name comes from having the object or character "slow out" of one pose and "slow in" to the next pose.

for example:

50th post: Animation Principals

Stretch and squash:

When real objects move only totally rigid ones, e.g., a chair, remain rigid in motion. Living creatures always deform in shape in some manner. For example, if you bend your arm, your bicep muscles contract and bulge out. They then lengthen and disappear when your arm straightens out. The squashed position shows the form flattened out and the stretched position shows the form extended. An important rule is that the volume of the object should remain constant at rest, squashed, or stretched. If this rule is not obeyed, then the object appears to shrink when squashed and to grow when stretched.
A classic example is a bouncing ball, that squashes when it hits the ground and stretches just before and after. The stretching, while not realistic, makes the ball appear to be moving faster right before and after it hits the ground.

Anticipation:

An action occurs in three parts:

1. the preparation for the action - this is anticipation
2. the action
3. the termination of the action

Anticipation is the preparation for an action which is about to occur for example in luxo jr where he wind up to jump on top of the ball. this can also help viewers become weary of a quick action for example dashing off screen.

Exaggeration

Exaggeration does not mean just distorting the actions or objects arbitrarily, but the animator must carefully choose which properties to exaggerate. If only one thing is exaggerated then it may stand out too much. If everything is exaggerated, then the entire scene may appear too unrealistic.

Animation Principals/Techniques

Puppet animation typically involves stop-motion puppet figures interacting with each other in a constructed environment, in contrast to the real-world interaction in model animation. The puppets generally have an armature inside of them to keep them still and steady as well as constraining them to move at particular joints. Examples include The Tale of the Fox, the films of Jiří Trnka, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and the TV series Robot Chicken .

Computer animation; Like stop motion, computer animation encompasses a variety of techniques, the unifying idea being that the animation is created digitally on a computer. You can use programs like Blender 3d, Autodesk Maya, 3d Max, and many others to create computer animations which we shall be doing in our lessons.

Animation Techniques/Principals

:O

Rotoscoping!
Rotoscoping is a technique, patented by Max Fleischer in 1917, where animators trace live-action movement, frame by frame. The source film can be directly copied from actors' outlines into animated drawings, as in The Lord of the Rings (US, 1978), used as a basis and inspiration for character animation, as in most Disney films, or used in a stylized and expressive manner, as in Waking Life (US, 2001) and A Scanner Darkly (US, 2006).

heres a cool example of rotoscoping i found on youtube.

stop motion animation is probably my favourite method/technique of animation as i feel it produced a visually great experiance. it is created by physically manipulating real-world objects and photographing them one frame of film at a time to create the illusion of movement.

Clay Animation: uses figures made of clay or a similar malleable material to create stop-motion animation. The figures may have an armature or wire frame inside of them, similar to the related puppet animation (below), that can be manipulated in order to pose the figures. made famous really by the Aardman animation studios who created Wallace and Gromit.

PPD: Sin City Motion Graphics

Sin City is my all time favourite film probably, i love the graphic and how it is so artistic in the way the film is portrayed. i love how its true to the graphical novels too. its predominantly green screened and the postwork after is what really sparks my interest with this film, the whole scenes look amazing.

especially the scene with "The Salesman" below

this is brilliant, ill never get bored of this film. i hope the second is as good. its got a lot to live up to.

PPD: Alyn - Space Artist

http://justalyn.net

that was his web address but it seems to be down at the minute.

Alyn is an inspiration british artist who has created amazing space scenes using programs such as terragen with a combination of handmade photoshop built planets and space nebula. these are simply incredible to look at. he one of the first artists i ever looked at online when i heard someone mention his work. obviously i didn't hesitate to look and appreciate what he has done.

as his website is currently down i will post some of his images off the deviantart profile he has remaining.

PPD: Kire

Kire aka Erik Schumacher is an artist ive found online via deviantart and other art groups. i have the please to work with him at slashTHREE and he is one of the most inspiration designers ive met. his photo manipulations are incredible with impeccable detail and amazing blending skills. how he gets the ideas i will never know but they always work out perfectly. he is an ispiration to many including myself and i can understand why.

WOW is one word to describe his work.

PPD:Rob Chiu: Best Video

i keep watching this and its amazing, the colours, the quick cuts, the close ups, the amazing sounds. this video is simply phenominal. i want to do something similar in the one minute project we are working on. maybe slightly less deranged though.

i love the way the text appears too, the font fits really well and looks perfect against the backdrop of the blue/yellow coloring

PPD: fiat grande punto

i love the colours and the glass effect on this video. looks amazing.i really love the dark tones and almost due toned colouring

PPD: THE GREATEST ADVERT EVER

this is by far the best advert i have ever seen in my life, still not bored of it. the visual effects are outstanding

Great CGI commercial for Smirnoff.
Created by JWT London, SFX by Framestore CFC, shot in New Zealand and Pinewood Studios in Elstree by Daniel Kleinman.

PPD: Bacardi Ads

the adverts for bacardi always impress me with their high detail graphical adverts. id love to be able to pull this off someday.

PPD: Silent Room

Silent Room installation at TRANSART, ITALIA

A CROSS-SECTED VIEW OF 16 PEOPLE, 16 ROOMS, 16 PRIVATE LIVES, SILENT ROOM IS AN X-RAY VISION OF 16 INTERIORS. IN THIS FILM-POEM, THE ROOM IS FELT FROM THE INSIDE. AN INTERIOR STEEPED IN DISCONTINUITY, WHERE UNUSUAL AND POETIC COMMUNICATIONS UNFOLD WORDLESSLY, THROUGH A CONTAMINATION OF THE SENSES. RATHER THAN A STORY LINE, THERE IS A SET OF TABLEAUX VIVANTS, EACH CRAFTED AROUND A FIXED IDEA, AN IMPULSE, A VOID, A HUNGER FOR AN IDEAL. SILENT ROOM IS A CINEMA OF LIGHT AND SHADOW, A CHAMBER CINEMA, WHEREIN THE MOST SILENT AND LEAST VISIBLE ELEMENTS VIOLENTLY DESCEND TO MURMUR ITS PRESENCE.

IN THEIR WORK, THE SKOLTZ_KOLGEN ARTISTS USE A FOTOCINETIQUE APPROACH FOUNDED ON THE TEMPORAL FRAGMENTATION OF ACTION. TO ACHIEVE THIS EFFECT, SEVERAL SIMULTANEOUS CAPTATION TECHNIQUES WERE USED, IN CONFRONTATIONS OF VARIOUS VANTAGE POINTS. FOR A MORE PRECISE CONTROL OF TIME, A BATTERY OF CAMERAS WERE SEQUENTIALLY SYNCHRONIZED TO TAKE OVER 10,000 PHOTOGRAPHS, WHICH WERE SUBSEQUENTLY DIGITIZED AND ANIMATED.

THE SKOLTZ_KOLGEN CELL THEN DEVELOPED DIGITAL FREQUENCY-SENSITIVE IMAGE- GENERATING SOFTWARE THAT INSTANTANEOUSLY SHADOWS THE AUDIO TRACK — SOMEWHAT LIKE A HEARTBEAT MONITOR THAT SHADOWS THE FREQUENCIES OF A HEARTBEAT, BUT IN THIS CASE EACH FREQUENCY OF SOUND CAN GENERATE ITS IMAGE EQUIVALENT. PLAYING WITH INTERLUDES OF THIS SPLIT-SECOND SYNERGY BETWEEN SOUND AND FILM, THE MUSIC AND SCORING EXPRESS A STATE OF AFFECT WITHIN THE ROOMS AND THE INTERNAL REALITY OF THE CHARACTERS. THIS IS THE FILM'S NARRATIVE TRACK. THERE IS NO DIALOGUE TO FOSTER UNDERSTANDING OR ANY REASSURANCES FOR THE VIEWER. INSTEAD, WE REMAIN IN A STATE OF CONTROLLED HYPNOSIS.

SILENT ROOM IS AN ART OBJECT THAT DEFIES CLASSIFICATION — A HIGHLY POTENT FILM OF ITS TIME.
