PSYOP
holy...(pause for thought)
this studio is one of the best ive seen by far, outclasses prologue by far i think.
created inspirational ads such as the Guinness "dot" advert, one of my favourite ads of all time, and the HP touchsmart ad which is equally as incredible.
they also created the visuals for the red hot chili peppers video for "fortune faded"
awesome stuff!!!
examples are needed.

prehaps a company to look into further.

Invitation
today i received an email from another art collective known as DigitalFlow.
the owner then asked me if id like to be a guest artist for their site and id be featured on it.
i accepted despite the conditions of my current collective, i see this as an extra way to promote my work and to network with other artist. prehaps we shall gain further exposure to companies and magazines and such.
why not i say.!

SlashTHREE Release 12: "Steampunk"
Thick, billowing smoke fills the midnight sky as the thunderous roar of pistons moving in unison resonates across the countryside. The deeply piercing whistle of the engine's horn announces its highly anticipated arrival. Ladies and gentlemen, all aboard slashTHREE's Steampunk, the collective's 12th exhibition. Enjoy the ride!
As we celebrate yet another release, we would like to take this time to congratulate Neil Hanvey (neil_akoga) on being this pack's featured artist. He has submitted several spectacular pieces showcasing his unique illustration style. Be sure to visit the release page and read the interview between Neil and Saad Moosajee with this extremely talented artist.
We just can't thank everyone enough for sticking with slashTHREE over its life span, you've largely contributed to the success of our projects! Thanks a lot!
We'd also like to let you all know that the remaining copies of slashTHREE's 'Expressions' book have been handed over to Subism. For a direct link to the book on their site, http://www.slashthree.com/artpacks/12

Rationale: Optional Pathway
For this module i have chosen to follow the "lifeline" brief. i believe this is the right option for me and i like to use a dramatic sence of atmosphere in my work, be it photography or motion graphics. i think i would again like to have a really dark feel with this module, powerful and dramatic in the sence that the message will be relayed via strong actions and careful composition.
i think i would like to utilise my photographic skills in this module by using my own photography to create a storyboard or maybe even to animate my own photos to create the motion in my peice. this is the reason why i wanted to pick this module. i think if i can use this breif properly i will be fulfilling both my ambitions as a photographer and a visual effects designer.
With "lifeline" i think i can use my strengths much more than any of the other breifs as they seem more surreal in the most case and with the correct delivery could be a really emotional yet effective breif.this title was also the most inspiring for me really. i found myself finding much more ideas for this breif than any others, which all seemed to be less "serious". i like to have a plan and idea of what i am doing conceptually and technically and not just random cannibal fun etc.
this is also a chance for me to broaden my portfolio of work considering it involes careful art direction in coherance with my photography and visual work and so i think this is probably the best choice for what i want to acheive

Tool - Visuals (live)
ive been trying to research the band Tool's visuals and who produces them live.
then i realised, the band use video/visual work from their own guitarist Adam Jones along with certain work from traditional psychadelic artist Alex Grey http://www.alexgrey.com
but its not just the concert visuals that are amazing, they literally have the best music videos out there directed by Adam Jones himself. i think they are actually better than chris cunnighams videos despite how good he is.
i think they are banned from MTV too ha.
wow

SlashTHREE Book - Expressions
well finally the slashTHREE project - Expressions is released and i now have my copy hand, its a really great book which has sold loads of copies helping the collective raise over 1000 USD to help the expansion of the collective.
as a member of the staff team and the project team who put this together i was really happy with the outcome and felt a great sence of pride.
small slideshow preview of the book.
the book also got a full page feature in Computer Arts Magazine.

Artician.
Artician is a new site which is still in its beta form, it is a site where you can build up your personal portolio, expand your creative networkand promote and gain exposure for your own work. Unlike many other portfolio sites artician is fully customisable and is fully capable of producing a professional portfolio.
http://www.artician.com
it also has a function where you can import and allready storedportfolio from DeviantART. massive thumbs up for that, saves so much time reimporting and uploading work.
it also has a community which you can share ideas and dicuss artistic developments
great site, ill have to sign up.

Visual Jockey (VJ)
i think later on id like to do some VJing, maybe for my final project.
as i have a strong interest in music production and have formed a minimal dj/producer duo, i think i could harness both skills to produce a VJ set using my own music.
ive been researching a few VJ's ever since i saw the amazing visuals they produced at the Deadmau5 Live gig i went to in october.
they were done by the pixel addicts aka Inside-us-all Vj's (voted world *1 vjs)

My title/task 1
i think my title as a designer would be.
Visual Effects Designer, Photographer and maybe art direction.
i think i have enough ideas and vision to call myself an art director i think and visual effects and photography is definitely the line of work id like to follow.
the skills i possess include a strong photographical ability and id like to think i am fully capable of visual effects especially abstract effects.
here are what i believe to be my pros and cons
Pros:
Photography
Vision
Visual abstract effects}
Sound development.}
experiance in software/technology
Cons:
Drawing
traditional animation
attention span.
this being said i think i can be capable of driving ideas and technically executing them either visually or conceptually.
